COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES

  • Tongues&Grooves in the Community is a non profit making voluntary body using poetry to promote motivation, well-being and social inclusion.

  • Our recent projects have involved people in recovery from mental ill health and substance misuse and detainees at Haslar Immigration Removal Centre, Gosport.

  • These and earlier projects were made possible with support from volunteers, local and national partners.

  • Between 2006 and 2010 our work attracted funding from Arts Council England, Awards for All, Grassroots, Portsmouth City Council and Small Sparks (NHS).

  • Our future plans include a further programme of community projects (subject to funding) and events for our 10th Anniversary in September 2013.

  • We are separate to Tongues&Grooves Poetry & Music Club, governed by a constitution and run by a Management Committee with regular meetings.
